Ahoy Salt Family,
Well... what a week.
Much of our town is still without power, with some areas now going on seven days in the dark and still no real updates on when electricity will be restored.
Your Salt store has officially spent five days without power.
Nyasha and her team, however, have been bright as ever, fitting keen customers using phone torches and pure good energy. The Salt Crew honestly make my heart smile. Rain or shine, they just keep rocking the Salt vibe.
First came the flooding rains that completely saturated the ground. Then arrived a 120 km/h north-westerly that uprooted trees, brought down power lines and left chaos all over town.
Massive respect to the Eskom workers. These legends have been working in the gnarliest conditions imaginable, dealing with live cables, mud, rain and relentless wind.

And now for the fun part...
With flooding rivers and a crazy south-east swell, we have literally lost Robberg Beach. There’s now a five metre sand cliff where the beach used to be, with erosion pushing back nearly 150 metres in places.
The inner breaks are covered in dune growth and flood debris.
But with all of this always comes a silver lining.
New waves.
New sandbanks.
Sand moved into places we’ve never seen before.
Yesterday, on the pushing tide, we scored a Kira-type wave peeling into the Keurbooms river mouth. Four foot and running perfectly. Just three of us out there trading chocolate Lindt barrels.
Sketchy though... with the odd tree stump still baring its roots.
We’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
